Even the Best Clothes Dryer Needs Proper Cleaning

Having dry clothes, even in foggy, cold and rainy weather, is not only a good thing but something that many people miss. There are many kinds, brands and styles that you can choose from when purchasing the best clothes dryer for your home. These machines come in two main types, which can either be gas or electric. In some ways, gas dryers are considered the best clothes dryers types because they run more efficiently and are less costly.

The electric machines, though, outnumber the gas versions in sales. Having said that, upon further testing it turned out that there is only a little difference between the gas and electric styles of any brand of clothes dryer. Essentially, for this home appliance to work properly and efficiently, the vent must be in tip top condition at all times. Having the vent directed towards the outside of the house not only ensures the cleanliness of your house, but also of your health and that of your entire family.

How Advantageous is an Electric Clothes Dryer?

Over time, lint and other fibers that the clothes have can be accumulated in the vents can cause some serious problems. If the vents are blocked, the flow of hot air that the dryer emits which contain gases like carbon monoxide can be spread in the air inside the house. This is why you need to make sure that your home appliance works as it should and that you're using a vent brush to clean your dryer vent regularly.

If your clothes take longer to dry than they're supposed to, or if they have a funny musty smell when you take them out, it means that your vent is no longer functioning properly and it needs thorough cleaning and maintaining. There is not only the danger or gas leaking but also of hazardous fires due to the lint catching on fire through the overheated equipment. This is when you have to think whether you want to do the cleaning on your own or call a professional to do the job.

Choosing the Best Clothes Dryer

It is quite easy to do it all on your own if you have a good vent brush at hand. The vent brush can be used to brush away the accumulated lint that blocks your clothes dryer vent. The brush has a handle that can be extended and can easily go deep into the exhaust pipe to remove blockages accumulated of fiber and lint.

If your clothes dryer has a clean vent and exhaust pipe, it will dry clothes properly and quickly like it is supposed to. There will be no hazardous gases or materials floating in the air inside your house. It will work longer and better and you're assured that you got yourself the best clothes dryer for your home.

Electrical Clothes Dryer Vs The Gas Operated One

Currently there are two types of clothes dryers on the market. One is the gas dryer, which is really half gas and half electric, and the other one is the full electric one. The gas operated one uses gas for lighting the flame that creates the heat in order to dry the clothes, whereas the electric machine used electricity to operates the engine, the timer, the thermostat and the coil kit.

One of the disadvantages of the gas one is that it has more parts than its electrical counterpart. When you have something with many little parts, there is a greater chance of more parts breaking down. This is why the gas one needs more often repairs than the other one.

Even if you prefer one over the other one, truly only the connection in your laundry room will tell you which type you can safely install. The electrical unit runs on 240V current which is actually double the regular household current. If your laundry room has not this type of voltage installed, you can either install it or buy a gas dryer. If you have both natural gas and 240V connection, you need to realize that the gas one tends to cost more than the electrical one, however in the long run the cost will be diminished due to the higher cost of general electricity.

The energy factor (the energy efficiency of the dryer) for the electrical clothes dryer is 3.01, while for the gas one it's 2.67, so it seems that the better one in this case is the electrical option due to its higher energy efficient factor.

However the gas type tends to dry your clothes faster which means you get to spend less time on your laundry. As the clothes dry faster, they allow faster evaporation of humidity from the clothes.

One problem with gas is that it is more sensitive to venting due to the fumes, so if you buy a gas clothes dryer you need to check the vent pipe often for leakage. When you have an electric type, it can be vented inside during the winter, which you can't do with gas.

People always will have one preference over the other one based on various criteria, logical or personal. Both appliances are great to dry your clothes but you need to make sure with no matter which you buy that it is kept properly cleaned.
